Coincidences Happen Too Often For Them To Be Just A Coincidence!
Carl Jung, the Swiss psychiatrist who lived from 1875 to 1961, was the founder of Analytical Psychology and a great believer in coincidences.
He went on to name the subject, Synchronicity and described it as “,˜an acausal Connecting Principle’. (Acausal “,“ meaning something for which there is no obvious cause.)
(See, take something that everyone knows about and accepts, give it a new name and describe it in complicated, psycho-thingy language, and you can spend the next 50 years being paid to explain the obvious!)
Jung went on to explain that, “The concept of Synchronicity indicates a meaningful coincidence of two or more events, where something other than the probability of chance is involved.
“Synchronicity elucidates meaningful arrangements and coincidence which somehow go beyond the calculations of probability”.
He also linked synchronicity to research into “extrasensory perception, (ESP), thereby making such phenomena a recognised scientific concept.
We’ve all experienced synchronicity, maybe thinking of someone for the first time in ages and then bumping into them, thinking of phoning someone as the phone starts ringing and it’s the person you thought of.
But synchronicity can go deeper, as in when you feel you have an insight, an inner knowledge, into a subject previously unknown to you.
You know, you don’t know how you know, but somehow you have an insight and the realisation that you know something without knowing how you know.
Einstein brought our understanding of synchronicity a lot closer when he described the Universe as being intelligent, that it interacts with us and we and the universe, are a dynamic whole, at one with each other. (Every golfer dreams of a whole in one!)
The quantum theory of entanglement takes our understanding even further.
Imagine if two electrons are separated in the universe, distance makes no difference, as far as you like, a change in one creates a simultaneous change in the other.
It’s what Einstein called, “Spooky at a distance, and is a demonstration of synchronicity between “,˜objects’.
Keeping Abreasr Of Parallel Worlds
These “Spooky, happenings would become more easily understood if we accept that time is a dimension, known in the quantum world as the space-time continuum.
This means that instead of being linear, we can travel randomly within this dimension, backwards and forwards.
Time is as fluid and varied as our limited minds will allow it to be.
Imagine adding to this lot, the parallel universes theory, where every outcome of every event is being experienced by someone else, somewhere in the universe.
You come to a fork in the road and choose to go to the left, the random universe theory says that someone, in a parallel universe has taken the right fork, at exactly the same time.
Someone, somewhere in the universe is experiencing every possible outcome for every event you experience.
Synchronicity shows us that nothing in the universe is random, nothing happens by accident and there is a master plan that has linked everyone and everything together in a never ending, multi branched, daisy chain.
And if such a plan does exist, the designer had a plan for our human bodies too.
Something like a repair manual for humans, it’s called DNA.
Imagine everything as dots in space, pixels in the cosmos
.
And as we zoom out we can see that the dots, or pixels, are becoming objects, becoming people and cities.
Zoom out further and we see that the objects have become planets and other “,˜things’.
Zoom out still further and those planets and “,˜things’ are in galaxies in the universe which is in God knows where!
Imagine, then, that everything is just a pixel.
The key to understanding is being able to see the finished picture from the pixels.
Let me explain further, . .
Imagine a guy going into his local pub and taking the only seat available at the bar next to a young woman.
He turns to her and says, “This is a special day, I’m celebrating”.
“What a coincidence,, says the woman, “I’m celebrating, too”,.
She clinked glasses with him and asked, “What are you celebrating?”,
“I’m a chicken farmer”,says the man, “For years none of my hens would lay but today they’re finally fertile”.
“What a coincidence, the woman said. “My husband and I have been trying to have a child.
“Today, my gynaecologist told me I’m pregnant! How did your chickens become fertile?”, she asked.
“I switched cocks”,he replied.
“What a coincidence”,she said.
Does that make it clearer?
OK, try this then…
These three guys were chatting in the bar about coincidences.
The first one says, “My wife was reading “A Tale of two Cities, and she gave birth to twins”.
“That’s funny”,says the second guy, “My wife was reading “,˜The three Musketeers’ and she gave birth to triplets”.
The third man shouted, “Good God, I have to rush home!”,
The other two asked what the problem was as he screamed, “ When I left the house, the wife was reading “101 Dalmatians!
Anyway, this 18 year old student had just been given a beat up old VW beetle by his parents.
He took it for a spin but misjudged the kerb and overturned the car directly between the house of Mr. and Mrs. Smith and Mr. and Mrs. Balls.
Luckily, he was pulled out by the Smiths.
